When Nintendo revealed the cast of the Super Mario animated movie, a lot of fans were surprised to see the long-time voice of Mario, Charles Martinet, had been replaced with Hollywood movie star Chris Pratt.
Since then, concerns have been raised about a non-Italian actor being given the role of Mario in his first animated movie outing. We've heard Illumination CEO and the film's co-producer Chris Meledandri defend this casting before - noting how the voice is "phenomenal" and now the topic has been raised once again.
