A few days after it was announced, the Wave 2 summer update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons has now been released. As previously mentioned it adds firework shows and dreaming. Save data is also protected thanks to the new island backup & restoration service.
In addition to this, Nintendo has released the full patch notes on its support page for version 1.4.0. It reveals a lot of finer details and also details some other adjustments that have been made to improve the overall gameplay experience.
