Skyrim: Anniversary Switch Players Seem To Be Experiencing Performance Issues

<p><strong>Frame rate issues & crashes are the main concern.</strong></p>
<p>Earlier this week, the Switch received the Anniversary Edition of <a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/games/nintendo-switch/elder_scrolls_v_skyrim">The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim</a>. As amazing as it is to <em>finally</em> have this particular version of the game on Nintendo's hybrid system, it seems <em>some</em> players are encountering performance issues.</p>
<p>A number of Skyrim: Anniversary Switch users are reporting frame rate issues - including stuttering and frame rate drops. Others are supposedly experiencing crashes more regularly now, with a lot mentioning how they've been playing the game's Survival Mode. We were stunned by this 14-foot tall LEGO Bowser back when <a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2022/07/herers-your-first-look-at-nintendors-14-feet-tall-lego-bowser-for-comic-con">it was first shown off</a>, and now LEGO has decided to share some behind-the-scenes footage of just how dear Bowser was put together.</p>
<p>Using the <a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2022/07/lego-confirms-rumours-with-new-18plus-bowser-set-which-you-can-actually-fight">2,807-piece Bowser set</a> as a reference, this ginormous structure took 3,290 hours to build — that's over <strong>137 days</strong>. And if you thought over 2,800 bricks was a lot, try 663,900. It's a LEGO fan's dream.</p>

<p><strong>Voodoo you think you are?</strong></p>
<p>You may have heard of a little game releasing on Switch this month – a point-and-click graphic adventure featuring Voodoo mysticism, set in the Caribbean and with music by Peter McConnell, composer on <a href="http://www.pushsquare.com/games/ps3/monkey_island_2_lechucks_revenge_special_edition">Monkey Island 2</a>? That’s right! It’s <a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/games/switch-eshop/voodoo_detective">Voodoo Detective</a>, the magical, mystical debut from Short Sleeve Studio, hot on the heels of fan-craze juggernaut <a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/games/switch-eshop/return_to_monkey_island">Return to Monkey Island</a>. Timing-wise, this Switch release is like arriving at a fancy dress party with a rubber glove on your head and yoghurt pot on your nose, only to meet Mel Gibson wearing the rooster suit from Chicken Run.</p>

The setting is Zo Wanga Isle, an island increasingly overrun by tourists thanks to the growing commercial operations of a corrupt corporation, Island Ventures. Native Zowangians like Voodoo Detective (that’s his name – competing for silliness with his brother Donut Hole Billy) are squeezed by real estate development and profit-digging commerce, cashing in on the local climate and culture.</p>

<p>In recent times, <a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/guides/best-nintendo-switch-life-sims-and-farming-games">life sims</a> and <a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/guides/best-wholesome-games-on-switch">'wholesome' gaming</a> have taken almost every platform by storm, and now developer Wonderscope Games presents <a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/games/nintendo-switch/hokko_life"><strong>Hokko Life</strong></a>, a colourful community simulator encouraging you to take life at your own pace. This intriguing animal-filled life sim echoes one of Nintendo's most popular titles but leaves us wondering what makes it a unique experience.</p>
<p>In the beginning, you're transported to a quiet, somewhat dishevelled town that seems utterly void of life. It's dark and slightly ominous, with only two buildings to welcome you. Arriving at the train station and being immediately thrust into a sleepy town with no explanation recalls early <a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/games/gamecube/animal_crossing"><strong>Animal Crossing</strong></a> titles. The comparison itself might seem trite, but from the get-go, it's impossible to look at Hokko Life without comparing it to Nintendo's life sim. Mechanics, character design, and gameplay all feel heavily influenced by the series, yet Hokko Life lacks the same level of charm and struggles to provide enough content to fill up a day. Getting settled in takes around six to eight hours, but following this, there's no real drive to keep you engaged.</p>

NieR: Automata Anime Will Not Follow The Game's Story, Says Director

<p><strong>'I brought up the idea of changing things around'.</strong></p>
<p>It was way back in February of this year that we learnt <a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/games/nintendo-switch/nierautomata_the_end_of_yorha_edition">NieR: Automata</a> would be getting its own anime series. As a sword-swinging action JRPG set in a dystopian future, this decision made a lot of sense. After seven long months of silence on the project, however, this weekend's Aniplex Online Fest provided us with some brand new details on the series, including what we can expect from its story and setting its release date for <strong>January 2023</strong>.</p>
<p>The announcement trailer (found above) features interviews with the original game director Yoko Taro and the series director, Ryoji Mausyama, as well as the anime's two lead cast members, Yui Ishikawa and Natsuke Hanae. The former of these conversations is particularly interesting in respect to the anime's relationship to the game's story.</p>

<p>In the run up to the launch of <a href="https://www.nintendolife.com/games/nintendo-switch/mario_plus_rabbids_sparks_of_hope">Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope</a> on October 20th, Ubisoft has unveiled two new 'Ubicollectible' figurines based on the game.</p>
<p>Depicting the Rabbids versions of Mario and Peach respectively, each will come with a code for an in-game weapon skin. We should also mention that they look both awesome <em>and</em> adorable; Rabbid Mario is equipped with his ridiculously meaty gauntlets 'The Dukes', while Rabbid Peach is kitted out with her trusty fire arm 'Triple-Troll'. We reckon they'd look pretty sweet displayed next to our Amiibo collection!</p>

<p>Solo developer Evan Tor has showcased an upcoming Metroidvania titled <strong>Rebel Transmute</strong>, <a href="https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/evan-tor/rebel-transmute/description">currently live on Kickstarter</a>. The project has successfully passed its basic funding goal, but needs an extra push to secure a release on the Switch. At the time of writing, the funding currently sits at $21,114 and needs to hit $24,000 to bag its Switch port, so that's a little under $3000 required from backers with 7 days remaining.</p>

In a recent interview with <a class="external" href="https://www.famitsu.com/">Famitsu</a>, developer Square Enix sat down to discuss just how far through the process it is with the game and we are pleased to see that the <strong>February 24th, 2023</strong> release date appears very much probable.</p>

<p>As reported by <a href="https://automaton-media.com/en/news/20220919-15767/">Automaton</a>, Bohan utilised a computing system that is modeled on the human brain and nervous system, training it to effectively mimick what a true Pokémon game would look like (hello, Ditto!). As you'd probably expect, there are no actual gameplay elements at work here; you can use your computer keyboard to move the character around, but what you're seeing on screen is purely a visual representation of a Pokémon game.</p>
