Square Enix Has Just Filed A Trademark For Collection Of Mana In Europe

<p><strong>A small but significant development.</strong></p>
<p>Square Enix has been busy filing <strong><a href="http://www.nintendolife.com/games/nes/final_fantasy">Final Fantasy</a></strong> and <strong>Mana</strong> trademarks for almost half of the year now and this latest one seems to be yet another sign the collection will be released here in the west. Following on from the "<strong>Collection of Mana</strong>" trademark in Japan in February, the company has now trademarked the same title for Europe.</p>
<p>This trademark has been <a href="http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/02/square_enix_trademarks_collection_of_mana_in_japan">previously</a> linked to the Japan-exclusive, <strong><a href="http://www.nintendolife.com/games/nintendo-switch/seiken_densetsu_collection">Seiken Densetsu Collection</a></strong>. This Switch release includes <strong>Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden</strong> (<strong>Final Fantasy Adventure</strong> / <strong>Mystic Quest</strong>), the sequel <strong>Seiken Densetsu 2</strong> (Secret of Mana) and the third game <strong><a class="external" href="http://www.nintendolife.com/games/snes/seiken_densetsu_3">Seiken Densetsu 3</a></strong>, which has never been localised. Perhaps we'll hear more about this recently trademarked title at this year's E3.</p>

<p>Sure, <strong><a href="http://www.nintendolife.com/games/mobile/mario_kart_tour">Mario Kart Tour</a></strong> is coming to mobile devices later this year, but right now, we're still <em>technically</em> playing the same Mario Kart game we were on the Wii U five years ago. Yes, on 30th May 2014, <strong><a href="http://www.nintendolife.com/games/wiiu/mario_kart_8">Mario Kart 8</a></strong> was released in North America and Europe on a Nintendo system that was at the time struggling to appeal to the masses.</p>
<p>The particular entry set itself apart from previous outings in the Mario Kart series with an all-new anti-gravity feature. The DLC was also a first for the series, adding in free Mercedes-Benz karts and two paid DLC packs later down the line – featuring more characters, vehicles and tracks. The 200cc was an added bonus. All of this paid off in the long-run, with Mario Kart 8 becoming the Wii U's best-selling title and shifting more than eight million copies worldwide.</p>

New Trailer And Release Date For Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX

<p><strong>Launches in September.</strong></p>
<p>Inti Creates has revealed more info on its upcoming entry in the Gunvolt series at Bitsummit 2019. <a href="http://www.nintendolife.com/games/switch-eshop/gunvolt_chronicles_luminous_avenger_ix"><strong>Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX</strong></a> was revealed at the Kyoto-based indie game festival last year and it is now confirmed to be launching on 26th September.</p>
<p>The first game in the series since <strong><a href="http://www.nintendolife.com/games/3ds-eshop/azure_striker_gunvolt_2">Azure Striker Gunvolt 2</a></strong> in 2016, Copen is the mysterious protagonist this time around and he's searching for a MacGuffin known as the 'Butterfly Effect'. He has support in the form of his robot companion Lola, a 'reliable partner' with the ability to scan enemy weapons and create 'mock' versions of them for Copen to use. Handy!</p>

Shovel Knight Update Coming To Musical Bullet-Hell Game Just Shapes & Beats

Yes, Yacht Club's fearless knight will soon appear in his very own update for Berzerk Studio's game, fittingly titled: <strong>Just Shovels & Knights</strong>.</p>
<p>This update was revealed during Nintendo's Japanese Indie World presentation. Based on what was on display, you'll be able to bop along to the songs from Shovel Knight's side-scrolling adventure, including the theme songs for King Knight and Plague Knight. <p>The Famitsu charts for 20th - 26th May came out earlier this week and show <strong><a href="http://www.nintendolife.com/games/nintendo-switch/super_smash_bros_ultimate">Super Smash Bros. Ultimate</a></strong> back in pole position.</p>
<p>It seems that last week's number one, PS4 game <strong>Ys: Memories of Celceta - Kai</strong>, has slipped from the list entirely. Along with the usual suspects, <strong><a href="http://www.nintendolife.com/games/nintendo-switch/resident_evil_origins_collection">Resident Evil Origins Collection</a></strong> jumps in at number 8 just behind PS4 exclusive Days Gone which slides two places. Perhaps unsurprisingly considering <a href="http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/05/video_digital_foundry_finds_assassins_creed_iii_remastered_on_switch_hard_to_recommend">the port's poor performance on Switch</a>, the PS4 version of <strong><a href="http://www.nintendolife.com/games/nintendo-switch/assassins_creed_iii_remastered">Assassin's Creed III Remaster</a></strong> appears at number 10 above the Switch version, which could only manage number 15 in its debut week.</p>

Xbox Ambassador and MVP Gives Back to the Community That Has Given Her So Much

<p>Imagine waking up early in the morning with the sound of birds chirping outside. You approach your gaming setup with energy drinks meticulously placed in a perfect line and enough snacks for a whole day scattered across your desk. You sit down, take a deep breath, and silently think to yourself, “I hope I don’t have to run to the bathroom,” because you are about to take part in a 24-hour charity livestream.</p>
<p>Over the last six years, Bowski477, an <a href="https://ambassadors.microsoft.com/xbox">Xbox Ambassador</a> and <a href="https://mvp.xbox.com/profile/5001559">Xbox MVP</a>, has done just that. While conquering games and encouraging others, she has been making a difference hosting charity streams through <a href="https://www.extra-life.org/">Extra Life</a>, a 24-hour, livestream charity marathon. Extra Life has raised more than $40 million for hospitals treating children across the U.S. and Canada.</p>
<p>As an Xbox Ambassador and MVP, charity streaming made sense to Bowski477.</p>
<p>“Prior to joining Extra Life, I would just sit back, watch others charity stream, and donate. But eventually I felt like I was ready to do more,” so she did.</p>
<p>With the support of her Xbox Ambassador and MVP family, she went all-in.</p>
<p>“I had the support of a lot of my friends in the Ambassador and MVP programs, many who also do charity streams,” said Bowski477. “Having that kind of support is awesome.” Now, every year Bowski477 dedicates one full day to raising funds for hospitals treating children.</p>

Creating the World of Hunt: Showdown, Available Today in Xbox Game Preview

<p>If you know Crytek as the developer that made <em>Crysis</em> or, more recently, <em>Ryse: Son of Rome</em>, then you might be surprised to see what we’ve done with <a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/hunt-showdown-game-preview/9ncmq9dxgxf6"><strong><em>Hunt: Showdown</em></strong></a>, which we are releasing today on Xbox One through the Xbox Game Preview program.</p>
<p>When we started work on <em>Hunt: Showdown</em> in our Frankfurt studio, we decided to take the most thrilling moments from survival games and pack them in a match-based format while retaining the fear of loss that makes survival games so incredibly intense. We wanted to create the feeling of gambling with your character’s life and strip away the downtime between the exciting moments.</p>

<p>Piece-by-piece, we created the dark, tense, photo-realistic first-person multiplayer bounty hunting game we’re releasing for Xbox One players today. Throughout development, our goal has been to make the game we’ve always wanted to play ourselves, and I am so proud of what we’ve accomplished as a team during that time.</p>
<p>A classic match of <em>Hunt: Showdown</em> pits up to 10 players – playing solo or in teams of two – against each other as they attempt to be the first to track and take out monsters in the swamps of Louisiana. As you search for the clues that will lead you to your bounty, you have to be very, very careful: not only is the map swarming with enemy AI, but every other Hunter is your enemy as well. There can only be one winner (or one team of two winners), and once you have the bounty in hand, you become the new target for everyone left on the map as you try to get out with your prize as quickly as possible.</p>

<p>In our Quick Play mode, up to 10 solo players face off in a race to close Wellsprings and, finally, absorb their otherworldly power before the timer runs out. The winner gets to keep their Hunter.</p>
<p>In both modes, death is permanent. The stakes are high, but so are the rewards. It’s really fun, and a really tense experience, and I hope that Xbox One players have as much fun with it as our team does.</p>

Natsume Announces Harvest Moon: Mad Dash For Nintendo Switch

<p><strong>All will be revealed at E3 2019.</strong></p>
<p>With less than two weeks until E3 begins, more and more developers are getting certain announcements out of the way before being overshadowed by much bigger releases. The Pokémon Company even got in on the action earlier this week, sharing news about new Pokémon games and apps currently in development.</p>
<p>Natsume has now followed, revealing <strong>Harvest Moon: Mad Dash</strong> for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. The game will be a spin-off to the well-known farming simulator series, but apart from that, we'll just have to wait until E3 2019 actually begins to find out more and see what it looks like. The Natsume president and CEO Hiro Maekawa also said fans <em>might</em> be "surprised" with the new take on the series, which allows players to "enjoy the classic features" in new and exciting ways.</p>

Review: Among the Sleep: Enhanced Edition - Has Some Growing Up To Do

<p><strong>Creepy crawling.</strong></p>
<p>If games like <strong><a href="http://www.nintendolife.com/games/switch-eshop/firewatch">Firewatch</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.nintendolife.com/games/switch-eshop/gone_home">Gone Home</a></strong> typify what has come to be known as the 'walking simulator,' then <strong><a href="http://www.nintendolife.com/games/nintendo-switch/among_the_sleep_enhanced_edition">Among the Sleep</a></strong> is more of a 'tottering simulator'. You could take that as a reference to its implausibly youthful protagonist, but it just as easily applies to the game's uneven tone and shaky gameplay. You could probably describe Among the Sleep as a first-person horror game, but that wouldn't be particularly helpful. That might conjure images of <strong><a href="http://www.nintendolife.com/games/switch-eshop/outlast_bundle_of_terror">Outlast</a></strong> or <strong><a href="http://www.nintendolife.com/games/switch-eshop/resident_evil_7_cloud_version">Resident Evil 7</a></strong>, and Krillbite Studio's effort is nowhere near as scary or as absorbing as those two modern gems.</p>
<p>Still, the game brings with it a very unique perspective. You play the part of a burbling toddler on the day of their second birthday. Your banal existence is soon upended as seemingly supernatural events begin to unfold, with a ghostly menace pulling you and your talking teddy companion into a warped nightmare world.</p>

<p>Hello, travelers! As you prepare for liftoff, here are some tips from a veteran member of Outer Wilds Ventures, your local hearthian space program. As a combination of narrative mystery and astrophysics simulation, <a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/outer-wilds/c596fkdkmqn7?activetab=pivot:overviewtab"><strong><em>Outer Wilds</em></strong></a> can often be counter-intuitive if you approach it like other games. While it is completely up to you to choose how you play and where you go, this advice should help you get the most out of each expedition.</p>
<p><strong>Pay Attention to Information</strong></p>
<p>In many games, lore means fun bonus text to collect that you can read at your leisure or not at all depending on how you feel at the time. In <em>Outer Wilds</em>, every person you talk to or piece of text you read is a useful tool that will better prepare you for your journey. You can’t level up, upgrade your spaceship, or find new power-ups to help you overcome the dangers of the solar system, but you <em>can</em> learn about a secret entrance or how to avoid a deadly hazard. Knowledge is power, so make sure you pay attention to the details. If you get lost, try checking your ship log to go over the clues you’ve found so far. If you’re the type who wants to puzzle it out yourself, be sure to turn off the ship log’s rumor mode in the Options menu!</p>

<p><strong>Use Your Tools</strong></p>
<p>As the newest member of Outer Wilds Ventures, you are better equipped than any of your predecessors. You have a jetpack that can function as an EVA suit in zero gravity environments, as well as aid in jumping with its powerful boosters on the surface of a planet. Even in higher gravity environments the booster can make the difference and allow you to glide rather than plummet to your doom. Your Signalscope can help you track down various audio signals that you find in the solar system. Simply pull it out to pick up a new signal and aim it around until the lines turn into a circle and you’ll find your way. Don’t forget that it’s also a telescope, so you can use it to scout out moons or distant planets as well!</p>
<p>Your flashlight is useful for illuminating dark environments, but there is also a powerful lantern on your Little Scout. For scouting out the surface of a planet, the Little Scout’s picture taking capabilities are unmatched, but don’t forget it has a handheld photo mode for when you just want a snapshot of something! The Little Scout can also give you detailed readings about whatever it is attached to, which can warn you about hazards or other dangerous situations. Last but not least is your translator tool, which can decode ancient nomai text as well as pick up audio recordings from certain pieces of technology. Refer to the first tip for why this tool is so invaluable!</p>

<p><strong>Have Fun with Physics</strong></p>
<p><em>Outer Wilds</em> takes place in a fully simulated solar system. This means that all the celestial bodies you see that orbit the sun are moving around in real time, affecting each other. There’s no friction in space, so you’ll have to learn a bit of astrophysics if you want to get good at flying. Your ship is equipped with an autopilot in case you want to unbuckle and check your ship log or refuel your jetpack on the way there. Be careful though – the autopilot isn’t very smart so watch out for anything that might be in between you and your destination (like the sun, to pick a completely random example).</p>
<p>One fun side effect of the physics simulation is the effect of forces on the player. Gravity, buoyancy, and drag can vary dramatically from one location to another, so keep an eye on your helmet HUD so that you don’t send yourself flying off of a small moon with your powerful jetpack thrusters. You aren’t just affected by your own planet’s gravity either – moons and other celestial bodies will keep exerting force on you while in orbit – so if you time your jump just right you might be able to use tidal force from the moon to get some extra height!</p>
